Cross-country skiing in the north woods of Wisconsin, we were in the woods near Mercer, where Al Capone's brother, Ralph (aka "Bottles"), vacationed and later lived. The trail was still and serene as we swished along, savoring our snowy vacation getaway. As we rounded a bend miles in, there it was. Smack dab in the middle of the forest, with bullet (?) holes, doors ajar... and saplings pushing through the floorboards.
